An online community for systems innovation in healthcare
So What’s the Plan?
Health Circle is a platform to support individuals and organizations in learning about systems thinking in healthcare and to use those ideas to collaboratively change health systems towards a more integrated paradigm
Why are we doing it?
It is well known that the way we do healthcare is based upon a reductionist approach, this approach has had many great achievements over the modern era, from curing diseases to the development of the national health systems of today. However this approach has inherent limitations that are becoming ever more apparent as our health systems become more complex and face new challenges. Today, we no longer need a new procedure, drug or policy we need to change the paradigm; the basic set of principles underlying how we understand healthcare and how we organize health systems, what we call systems innovation.
Health systems innovation?
The health systems of today have become hugely complicated, fractured and compartmentalized. We do not have "health systems" we have "health parts" they are integrated within a very narrow spectrum of the full set of factors that are required to develop overall health. What could a holistic approach to health systems design look like ‣ Include all relevant factors ‣ Open and decentralized ‣ Based on value delivered ‣ Networked and user-centered ‣ Process-oriented
